Im not new to Blitz, but im new to owning it :P I just received my BP copy a few minutes ago :o Everything is working fine! But one thing, windows wont open BB files with the BlitzPlus.exe, when it asks for the program to open it with, I click Browse and select the BlitzPlus.exe. It doesnt go in the list! What do I do about this! Help! |
| ||
Sorry for double posting I can do it with any other file except the C:\Program Files\BlitzPlus\BlitzPlus.exe ! |
| ||
tick the tickbox that says always use this program to open files of this type (or something similar). |
| ||
I said it doesnt even go into the list I cant get the program into the list of programs for selection ! I do everything correctly |
| ||
In win98 you can open Explorer (the files manager one, not IE) then select Tools\Folder Options... and hit the File Types tab to enter the details. Don't know what that would be in XP as I don't have it. |
| ||
Im on XP I shouldve stated that |
| ||
It's the same for XP, go into Windows Explorer, select Tools>Folder Options and click the File Types tab. Now click New and register the BB file to run with B+. Although what Perturbatio said should also do it. |
| ||
OMG! I said I did all that! IT doesnt work! I select the BlitzPlus.exe but its not added the list to select! |
| ||
Ok, chill MrSAK If there is a BB reference already in the File Types list - delete it, then restart Windows. Now after the restart, enter the File Types list again and make sure it's gone. Then try registering the file with New again. |
| ||
I select the BlitzPlus.exe but its not added the list to select! Btw, it won't be in any list to begin with, you have to select Browse and find it manually even after registering it. |
| ||
Ok, easy way, if you haven't tried this yet. Right click on the *.bb file in Windows Explorer. There should be an option "Open With >" Mouse down to that, then in the popup menu, click on "Choose Program" Select Blitz from the program, or navigate it from the "Browse" option. Make sure "Always use etc..." is selected. It should use Blitz from then on. |
| ||
I managed to do it my self. I selected an exe that would work, I deleted that exe and then it would request the exe to replace it with when I open a BB file, so I selected the real BlitzPlus.exe and now it works. |
| ||
Sometimes if a file type is already associated with an executable, you won't get "Open with..." when you right-click the file. You just get "open". But if you hold down SHIFT when you right click, you always get "open with" |
| ||
Hey that's handy to know, thanks soja :) |
| ||
you always get "open with" Not ALWAYS true... |
| ||
You should always get open with in XP. At least on XP Pro I always get it. In Win98 I had to do Shift-Right Click. |

I have XP too, and had the same exact problem. I am a bit computer savy and even tried the suggestion to go into the files and attach blitz3d.exe (or i think that is the name of the .exe, I don't notice name I just click on it. lol) to the .bb extention, but it didn't work. It connected my .bb files to... uhh adobe reader? Very weird. And when I try doing "open with" and select the blitz3d.exe it still doesn't work, it comes up with adobe reader still. What I had to do was litterally move all my blitz files that I put in the blitz folder and reinstall blitz3d! That is the only thing I could get to work. When I reinstalled blitz3d it worked again. It stopped working when I moved Blitz3d from my C: to my F: due to memory issues. |
