Looking for info on 3D animation, and tut. info

I looked around through search but was unsure of what I'd found. I'm using the demo of Blitz3D and was wondering: -Are there any step-by-step tutorials for importing a 3D model, and applying motion capture animations to it? -The tutorial forum is rather thin, and they don't appear to be very comprehensive with good step-by-step information. Is there any resource out there that provides this? -How good is the $22 Blitz3D Manual for getting tutorials and such? It looks to have been published in 2006 or so, so is it still relevant? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hello, Concerning the animations : I have managed to merge the motion captured rotations/translations to a .b3d with Fragmotion and i had to do many tweaks in order to have a clean animation. I suggest to use 2 cameras in order to capture the important postures, from my experience the render is better and the work to make a clean animation is less time consuming. Concerning the tutorials : In my experience, the best way to learn is to use Google or Bing and to type : subject or question site:blitzbasic.com This will help you to find the relevant posts and code examples. Concerning the Blitz3d manual, i don't know, but i know there are several tutorials in .pdf or on youtube on the web, use Google or Bing, search and you will find. Last edited 2012 |

-I'm not trying to use my own mocap animations. I'm looking to use pre-made ones. -I searched a lot already, but most of the stuff I found on Youtube is old, really old, and one of the Tutorial makers on YouTube told me that many of the practices he's using are now out-of-date, and seeing that the majority of the ones I've come across are about the same age as his, I'd imagine there is a ton of out-of-date information floating around. Then a lot of the sites and documents for Blitz I've searched are from like 2003 and 2004 and such. I'm a little worried about the lack of upkeep and lack or robustness of tutorials and resources for this. It reminds me of how it was with Scirra with Construct Classic, but eventually they turned things around with Construct 2 and made extensive documentation a major priority, and that's for an event-based programming system. With a language, it's kind of unconscionable not to have more available... I dunno, I'll keep searching around I guess. Thanks for checking this out. |

I'm not trying to use my own mocap animations. I'm looking to use pre-made ones. Ok, but depending on what you are trying to do with it, you will need to tweak them. For example, in a video game, the character is child of a pivot and the program moves the pivot and animates the character. So you understand that in your animation, the character must always stay with his feet near the origine. You can see an example of what i mean with the ninja character (.b3d) here : http://www.psionic3d.co.uk/?page_id=25 Concerning the docs, you can access the help inside Blitz3d or here : http://www.blitzbasic.com/b3ddocs/docs.php |
