Did anybody create a 2d-in-3d map editor? Whether with Spritecandy, NSprite or from scratch? What about mixing 2D and 3D? Is it still considered a problem?

I'm almost finished an editor. I did it from scratch using 2d-in-3d pixel perfect quads to display my text & gadgets.

I still get issues mixing 2d and 3d but it's maybe just my card. You could try that FastText lib though - I hear that's plenty fast and there an update which works with v1.99.

Thanks for the response Stevie G
With the popularity of Sprite Candy and NSprite I would have thought somebody had made one before. Checking and asking on the SpriteCandy forums showed others with the same query but also others with some solution which is never really provided.
Same sort of thing for NSprite as well.

I don't know what you mean 2d-in-3d map editor but I used extensively SpriteCandy in my UnlimitedDrop editor

I'm looking for a Tilemap Editor which uses B3D 3D commands for 2D rather than 2D commands.

I suppose you can use UnlimitedDrop for this because it exports mesh data in an ASCII text file format.
All you have to do is to import 3D object planes textured with your tiles.
Until now I haven't implement yet a snap to grid future and this makes my suggestion not well fitted...
