How do you hide a menu, make it not visible.

Hidegadget doesn't work on menus, right?

I would imagine there would be a freegadget or similar command perhaps?

I think that would be possible if there was a way to change the properties of real-time window.
Hence the value of the corresponding flag to display the menu, would be hidden.
