[edit] This is now the 3rd and final version. Here's my UFO ![]() 800 tris. |

Shape is OK, but i think its all in the textures. [a http://images.google.co.uk/images?gbv=2&svnum=10&hl=en&q=UFO+model&btnG=Search+Images]Reference images[/a]. |

the shape fine. take a top down projection of the body and then export the UVs to a paint program draw paneling over the the template. then add some dirt and should look much better. |
| ||
Load up OSX, nick a bit of polished metal off Aqua and apply liberally. |
| ||
heres my go. took about 30 mins its not very good![]() if anyone wants it i can upload it to my site or email it? |

Check these models at TurboSquid, some are expensive, but options are good. ;) http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/245001 |

Edited - see image in first post. THis is good enough methinks as this thing is going to be small and whiz on and off the screen very quickly. Oh and it shoots the crap outta the place too! |
| ||
boiled sweets: thats better, i had fun making mine anyway |

Still looks cartoony. Like I said in another post, you should either go for everything realistic or everything cartoony, etc. Mixing a very realistic space warp with cartoony comets, ufo's, etc, may spoil the realism. I would suggest a more "real" looking ufo similar to some available at TurboSquid. Same with the rockets from what I saw. Overall, I LOVE this screensaver! |

@MGE, well... 1) I cannot afford to buy those models 2) Those models are too high poly count 3) I cannot texture map to that quiality 4) The UFO is on screen for such a short amount of time anyhow 5) Realistic?!?! Erm it's a UFO, how do we KNOW what they look like. They might look exactly like my model! :-) |
