Heres a pic of my new male model. Im not going to be using textures to try and conserve some resources. Ill be using this dude as a base to create my other models. Hes 922 Tris and 460 polys.![]() Ok, heres a pic of the Marshall with Mustache. ![]() And heres an Indian Outlaw... (Revised 3/2/08 8:18am) ![]() I appreciate the comments, the shading is the default I havent done anything to adjust it. Thanks. |

He's 922 polys. For game purposes polys means triangles. He's not bad. I'd widen his hips a bit, they don't look big enough to support him. His head looks too narrow too, although the very distinct shading might be making that look worse than it is. |
| ||
Reminds me of little big adventure! I agree his bottom half looks really puny compared to his quite well built top half. |
| ||
I think he looks very exciting. |

cool |

Needs work. The proportions are all wrong and the face needs significant reworking. |
| ||
Looks OK to me for the effort. Definately game ready and useable. |

Amon: Do you really think so? Really? False praise,even when given with the best of intentions, is unconstructive, dishonest and harmful. Xyle: Take a look at some of the low-poly challenge threads on www.polycount.com. Download some of the models if you can; take a look at their proportions and the way that they are constructed. You can learn a lot by studying other people's models. |

Amon: Do you really think so? Really? False praise,even when given with the best of intentions, is unconstructive, dishonest and harmful. Yes I really think so. The models, although low poly and not AAA, remind me of MDickie's style of modelling which is enough of a modelling style to use in a game. Plus Xyle can only get better. He's deffo got a technique to making his models and with time and effort they will only get better. |

Although MDickie's style is something that one might settle for, I hardly think that it is something that one should aspire to. |

although they could be alot better, they are definatly good enough to use in a game. it depends on how perfect you want your game to be. i would download and play a game with graphics at that standard. |

Wow, nice feedback! I really appreciate the comments. I am putting my vote on the these are game ready consensus. There are definitely some improvements that can be made. But Im pretty happy with the output. Here are some vids of these little dudes in action... Now it could just be the angle makes it look this way but I'd say you need to take a tuck under the arms. Especially in indian walking you can see flab flexing in that area that shouldn't be there and would probably be easy to remove. Other than that not bad at all. |
| ||
not bad useable it depends how big they will be on screen. just out of interest what program you using to animate them? |
| ||
They will be small and top down view, offset a bit so any blemishes wont be too visible, hehehe. I used Studio Max for the modeling and animation, I recently got into using the layer system on studio max, it made all the difference in the world for me. |
