I modeled this in Blender, in aproximately 2-3 hours :) I'm pretty proud of it, it came out about 1.5k polygons. Constructive/deconstructive criticism is welcomed.

Looks good! Gotta love Blender :D

Now you have to texture it ;)

EDIT: I would say make the scope slightly larger and attach it more realistically to the gun (usually two points connected to the gun, or either in the center of the scope).

Looks good, but seems a lot of polys for what it is?

itsdanreed(Posted 2009) [#4]
Yeah, I really didn't care about poly counts in this model, for a realtime I'd have a goal of about 900-1000 polys, or less.

Nice_But_Dim(Posted 2009) [#5]
1500 polys for that not bad make somthing with less just as good GfK.

Nice. Did you have a reference image?

Awesome, I can barely create a cube in Blender, most unusable 3d modeling program imo. The best one for me is Maya, but I don't have the money for that, I had to settle for Milkshape3D.

Its just a comment. He's not getting arsey about it so why are you?

It's pretty usable really, it has alot of nice features, but I guess it's preference; I can't afford licensing for my preferred modeling software, which is Cinema 4D

I'm using a layout that makes it function pretty close to 3D Studio Max.

Yes =] But I based my model loosely upon that image.

I welcomed all types of feedback. GfK's feedback wasn't destructive.

agree
even if used up close in game the player doesnt need that much polygon detail as they are too busy looking beyond the business end of the gun (and for a scope it would be mostly via the scope itself)
a low polly with a great texture is better than high polly ... but as it is it looks ok bar the off balanced scope
a larger image (inc viewed from the players perspective) and a shot of the refernce image would be nice (edit never mind 7:30 cant see the last post-itis must go to spec savers)
edit: scratch the edit i thought it might have been a photograph not an ilustration, yours is better looking cos it dont look like its from a cartoon :)
