When I go to "is it down" and sites like that my domain "mattiesgames.com" indicates that it is up. However whenever I try to ping it from either my mobile phone (Telstra 4G) or my work PC I get a timeout error. I'm curious if anyone else can access it from where you are, or if there might be a reason I'm getting these problems. I thought maybe it was blocked by my work but then the fact that it doesn't come through on my mobile has me stumped too. |

Works from here in the middle of the UK. Maybe you could try a different DNS server? What are you using? I generally stick with Google's : 8.8.8.8 |

Worka here too. What does tracert /traceroute say? Bye Ron |

At least you got deep into the heart of Germany - via the rest of Europe :-) AttractSoft seems to be the correct destination though. |
| ||
Tracert tells at which spot the route is lost...so dns is not an issue...maybe they block your area (location) ... All in all you have many hops to go...many chances for timeouts to happen. Can you ftp/scp/... in? Bye Ron |
| ||
Yeah...I just tried a website that lets you run traceroute from different locations. Running it from the UK is fine. Running it from Melbourne is not. Bizarre. No idea how to fix that though...Why would an address be inaccessible from Melbourne but not the UK? |
| ||
Haven't tried ftp yet....would have to do that from home...not work. |
| ||
ftp will show if the webserver blocks your connection...or if the hoster blocks it. Things like ddos protection...firewalls... could block you. As your traceroute does not stop at the Australian border, it is no problem with an oversea cable. Did you check other domains hosted by your provider...or your provider website itself? Just try to narrow down potential sources of the problem. Bye Ron |

attractsoft-ki.de.as13237.net is probably the correct (final) destination. From there the hostname should be pushed through their system to return your website. For example, you cannot browse to the IP Address (82.197.130.234), because it's not a real location, just a pseudo location of AttractSoft's that gets you onto their system. From there the hostname should get you the correct stuff back. |

Haven't checked too much yet. I just noticed it this morning. I don't have any other domains hosted and I'm not sure what other domains are hosted by my provider. I will have to look into it. |

The access to your website can also be blocked by an anti malicious websites app (nowadays associated with an anti malwares app), which recognizes your server ipa as malicious (more likely to happen if your web hosting is on a shared server) |
| ||
To find out who is also hosted on the same IP use something called "Reverse IP lookup" - eg there: http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/ If you cannot access OTHER websites on the same ip, it is a technical flaw or a blocked IP -- if you can access them, it is most propably your webserver or your personal computer blocking. bye Ron |

Ok..just for completeness I thought id post the resolution. Turns out my host had blocked my work IP address because of a number of failed attempts at logging into ftp.... something called a csfban or something. After contacting them they white listed my work ip address and all was good. |
