The font has suddenly changed on all text. It is as if the quality of the font has reduced significantly in the last couple of hours. Other graphics don't seem to be affected however - just text. |
| ||
Edit - strange - a reboot fixed the appearance of all text (even in graphics) on my PC..... |

It's possible that the ClearType process stopped working? (That's does the sub-pixel anti-aliasing on text, making it look much less blocky on most LCD screens) |
| ||
It is a possibility though not sure how I'd xonfirm that. Maybe event viewer has info? |

Depending on your driver it may be your graphics card driver that just failed. Modifying the screen resolution and back can solve the problem if it's the refresh rate that came to something your screen does not really support (like 70Hz). If it's an old catalyst driver, it can happens when an option is checked (I don't remember the name, but it causes many problems, essentially with blitz3d programs -> fonts are blured and dirty) If it happens often, try to desinstal/reinstal the drivers. By the way, a screen dying does not have this kind of issues ... a graphics card is generally the one that would fit with this kind of troubles. (but, it's probably just windows that failed just once ... it happens, it has happened, it will still happen. Nothing bad, nothing to worry) |

If it is only the font which looks weird it may be that you have deactivated this option (on windows 7) : (i will try to translate from the french) configuration panel>>system>>advanced parameters>>performances - parameters>>visual effects make sure the option "smooth the fonts" is activated. |

Yep, it's what I didn't remember the name If it's an old catalyst driver, it can happens when an option is checked (I don't remember the name, but it causes many problems, essentially with blitz3d programs -> fonts are blured and dirty) |

Ok. It was probably just a windows glitch, thanks. |

It may be that you changed the font size accidentally. Sometimes I may press the CTRL key and my hand brushes against the mousepad and Windows reads it as the shortcut for changing font size. If it only changes by a point or two, I might not notice the change, but the fonts will start looking blurry. By pressing CTRL-0 (zero) I can reset the font size. Seems as though this shortcut was removed from Windows 10. Font size needs to be explicitly set in the settings menu. |
