Hello all, I'm sure there are plenty of these - googling brings back heaps of results...but after bad experiences looking for other free movie file converters I'm a little hesitant to just go and download willy-nilly any old possibly malware infested exe from some unknown site... so - does anyone have any good recommendations - possibly links as well for software that can convert mp3 files to ogg files. Thanks, Matt |

Download Audacity and the plugins pack; on the same site download the ogg exporter, install: load in your mp3's and export to ogg. There are various options that allow you to change the compression and audio quality during export. And, best of all, it's all free! :) http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ http://audacity.sourceforge.net/manual-1.2/exportmp3.html [edit] Just checked the site and ogg export is built in by default now, think I need to upgrade my version. Audacity is a great tool indeed; another one someone indicated in these forums is Format Factory which is just a godsend. |

My recommendation would be foobar2000 as it has never let me down and has excellent support for converting between various audio formats. However, like Audacity it does not come with an MP3 encoder/decoder for copyright reasons so you will need to download the LAME MP3 library yourself. When you start conversion foobar will ask you for the location where you installed LAME. Last edited 2011 |

Or you could just go for REALLY really simple: http://www.freemp3wmaconverter.com/freemp3wmaoggconverter/index.html I know it looks like it's either a scam or a virus, but it's honestly not. I've used it for about two years, and personally recommend it. Cross-converts WAV, MP3, WMA, OGG and more, and as batches, too, rather than one-by-one. Piece o' cake. |
