I already purchase ignition x , being honest not done anything with it. Question should I buy pyro and stop using ignition? Is that the end of development on ignition

Thanks Dave

I already purchase ignition x

Thank you Dave for your support!
Is that the end of development on ignition

Nope. I will continue to update and support it as long as that makes sense.
Question should I buy pyro and stop using ignition?

Ignition X uses Mojo. Pyro uses Mojo2 (OpenGL). This means Pyro has shader support, can do the fog, lightning, shadows and render to texture for example. Pyro will be ported to Monkey2, Ignition not. But I believe Pyro is the improved version of Ignition X. More intuitive and cleaner. Not that Ignition is a total disaster but Pyro came years later so I improved as a programmer (well, I like to think so) and I had a little help from Mark :) So do you need Pyro? Only if you need the extra features. You could try the 30 days demo to find out or wait until I have more info on our new business model to make a decision.

Convinced, it's only £65... will buy it, there you go my support.

Cheers dave

Thanks in advance Dave!

Sounds interesting Tony.

To make MX2 self-funding being open-source I was thinking if BRL would open up some sort of payable module shop similar to Unity, which frameworks such as Pyro2 and IDEs could be sold and BRL would take a small cut to help fund the future development/support of MX2.

BRL could create special modules to sell via the shop such as IAP and Admob etc.

Thanks Steve!

I totally agree and I have expressed this idea to Mark already some time ago. He was not against it so we will just have to wait and see.

We are also having a similar idea for Pyro were we sell add-ons, plugins etc, assets, tools, etc. and I am also hoping people will create Pyro based add-ons, plugins, tools, etc. but yeah, I think definitely BRL should move in that direction.

Does MX2 export to all the same targets as MX1 in it's current state?

Does Pyro support all available targets the same way IgnitionX does?

Holt(Posted 2016) [#11]
I assume my license stays valid?

No, Flash, XNA and Windows RT? are not supported as far as I know. Somebody correct me if I am wrong!
Does Pyro support all available targets the same way IgnitionX does?

Yes, all Monkey2 targets will be supported. I think Monkey2 will support at least HTML5, Desktop, iOS and Android but no doubt more will follow.
I assume my license stays valid?

YES!

NP, thanks!

I have decided to support monkey 2, I will buy Pyro 2. If you want, I can buy Pyro, but you have to give me Pyro 2 free. By the way, If one day I see a data visualization library for Monkey, specially one with just a simple linear fit, I will quit all languages. I remember Sim City had some charts. You can add few simple one to your library too, I don't know, I am not pro in game programming, maybe foolish suggestion.

That is a good idea! I am playing with Monkey 2 and the new Mojo port all week now and I am eating it up!

Pyro '2' will be 'free' for all Pyro customers.

Too soon to say, all depends on the demand I guess.

Thanks playniax, I will buy Pyro today. You don't see heart because I financially support Monkey 2 directly.

Playniax(Posted 2016) [#18]
Much appreciated!

I have some news regarding our future license or business model!

Pyro
You may know, currently I am working on porting Pyro to Monkey 2.
Now I can't say when 'Pyro for Monkey 2' becomes available but when it does, a new license form will be introduced.
Details are not yet exactly defined but basically we will chop Pyro in to separate modules and add new products.
Some of the modules and products will be available for free and some will be available as separate add-ons that you would need to purchase.
The current Pyro license will stay valid for existing customers and for possible new ones who purchase Pyro BEFORE the release of 'Pyro for Monkey 2'.
So to be clear, this means that everone who purchased or purchases Pyro BEFORE the release of 'Pyro for Monkey 2' will keep access to all its Pyro modules, updates, tools and editors from Playniax without having to pay extra!
AFTER the release of 'Pyro for Monkey 2' only the new license form will be available.
This means some modules and products need to be purchased separatly as an add-on making it more costly if you need all of them.
The current license will probably be renamed to 'Pyro lifetime' or 'Pyro ultimate' or whatever sounds cooler.
Basically this is our way to thank people for their early support!
So get it now!

Ignition X
Ignition X was / is a very successful product and will still be maintained and developed as long as there is a demand for it.
I also would like to thank the people who purchased Ignition X with a little present.
What this will be, I have not decided yet.
More news on this will follow...
