Hi. here are some shots from Greenhouse system. It allows you to create trees, set global wind values on the fly. trees blow in the wind dynamically. Also grass animated in the wind. You just load a tree from file , or convert and entity already loaded into a tree with one command. and call updatetrees() in your main loop. Wind settings, view ranges, and animation ranges are all set with easy Global variables. The trees can also change color based on season. and you can easily set up each seasons colors. This project was started for another company, who decided that it would be ok for me to retain code rights.. so ive decided to see what you all think of it. The FPS is very good with this. I have tried other tree systems and they seem to bog down with just a few trees. This doesnt even without any kind of rendertweening you can get alot of trees going, and you can load any model you want as a tree. as long as the model has certain properties saved into it, the system will recognize what is a leaf, and what is branch or trunk. and rebuild the model to work in the system when you load it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks pretty. |
| ||
by making any model into a 'tree' does this meen that flags etc could sway in the wind? |
| ||
yes, but its not like the ragdoll effect, you dont "LINK" leaf chunks so it wouldnt wave the way you would expect a flag too.. BUT you could create convincing spiderweds, ropes, chains, old style lamp posts with swinging lamps, and so on. You can set how a tree pivots its leaf chunks as well, from the center(wich in this case chunks point to camera) from its bottom, or from its top. |

Looks very nice. I'm afraid it won't be freeware :..( |

no but it wont cost $30.00 USD .. im considering putting FLE PRO, FTE PRO, and GreenHouse together for about $15.00 The thing is you will get GreenHouse source.. i wish blitz would let you compile LIBS from blitz code. :( Note.. FLE PRO now has pretty decent dropper built in with vertex lightmapping, and autodropping/planting of models based on adjustmable max/min height and slope values as well as adjustable density. and of coarse built in Greenhouse support. You can also AUTO paint the terrain with those same parameters per layer. FTE PRO has built in GreenHouse suport as well. and Random tree generation as well as manual. |

sounds like a very good offer. |

Greetings Puppies, Looks very nice, especially the dancing frog in the first screenie. What do you mean about chains? Peace, Jes |
| ||
frog? hm.. well when i mentioned chains i was talking about how the engine can convert any model to move with the wind. So for an example i used chains swaying around in the wind..perhaps hanging from a outside wall.. or ropes hanging from the gallows.. |

ive tested this for Rif, and I can say its really impressive. Best tree/grass system I have seen beyond SpeedTree. Its fast as well. |
| ||
Looks cool, RifRaf! |
| ||
kind of unfair posting compitition in the dudes threadlol |
| ||
its ok. i dont mind the shots. speedtree is great Its also written in a much more powerfull language than Blitz3d. and did you catch the price on speedtree? was it more than $15.00 . i bet so. |
| ||
Yup. SpeedTree's a ripoff. $300 or so. I believe its more. A lot more... |
| ||
heres a few more shots |
| ||
ya and well I didnt mean it as competition, since well who would use it in a blitz program? I was just pointing out that for all the tree/foliage programs out there, this is certainly the best for developers. And since I know Rif knows C++, and C#, maybe this will turn into a another engine product 1500 bucks for speedtree, vs 15 or 20 for Rifs program. mnnn I know what ill use. |
