hi all this is my last experimentation : the texture splatting :o) it's work on Blitz Terrain, if not used the vertex alpha blending technique or other technique, just used alphamap and detail texture for work :o) screen : ![]() Simple Demo : http://bond357.free.fr/down/TextureSplattingDemo.zip good test |

Cool :) Um.. texture... SPLATTING? :P |
| ||
This is great! Works really well. What's the DLL for? |
| ||
texture... SPLATTING? :P Give him a break - he is foreign! Although 'splatting' is actually quite descriptive. :P |
| ||
It is called texture splatting! |
| ||
D'oh! :P |
| ||
Doesn't seem to work for me, i just get the terrain with a single repeating texture :( |
| ||
mmmm sweet! Works fine here on Geforce 6800GT. |
| ||
Looks very good! |
| ||
Yeah, it really is called texture splatting, heh works fine here 6800gt |
| ||
how many texture layers needed? Am I right when I assume 6 on that picture? (1 per texture and 1 per texture alpha map?) It works on my system (mobile 9700) and that on a quite nice speed :-) |
| ||
just 1 alphamap per 1 texture :), and illimted texture detail ;o) but most => slow, other demo without blend 5 if first demo don't run http://bond357.free.fr/down/TextureSplatting_Blend2.zip |
| ||
looks a bit like what I do in 3dsmax with an alpha sorting trick. Very cool :) |

Texture Splatting in DirectX : http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article2238.asp |
| ||
Doesn't run on my GEForce 4 MX, which has only 2 texture units available. |
| ||
Hi halol ! Have you try a second demo with blend 2 ? http://bond357.free.fr/down/TextureSplatting_Blend2.zip if not work, maybe your video card don't support AlphaBlending :( |
| ||
I do texture splatting in OpenGL with no problems. Support for blend mode 5 isn't an issue either. |

Code source now available on my website :) |
