Hey,

This is a new thread cos the old one got a bit confusing as it was 8 months old. (Lock that 1 please any mods)

I have changed the control mechanism for this demo (as some people disliked the simple up down keys), and would like to know if people like this new 1 or not? You now control via the mouse up/down or left/right.

Still loads of powerups and baddies to put in though.

Thanks for looking regards Rob

Sweet.

I just thought- Perhaps your ZIP is problematic using the WindowsXP extractor. I will try using WinRar later, maybe something is getting missed!

Heeps fun to play.

It worked after I used WinRar instead of the windows zip extractor. Excelent work :)

...I couldn't figure it out though. Well, I could, I just couldn't do it!

I like the freakish looking image levitating on the intro menu !

tried the windows Zip extractor, the menu came up fine every time but on executing the game, the first time I received:

HUD_SetImageClip The specified file cannot.. blah...

The second time I ran it the game worked - nice gfx,

The third time I tried to access the options to no avail, decided to try and execute it again, however receive3d the HUD_Set... msgbox error again. Hope this helps...

Have updated with bug fixes, and a few levels added. Interested to know if people like the controls or not now?

Rob

I get the same errors as Blitzplotter. The mainmenu works fine, but soon as I start the game, I get the HUD_SetImageClip error. Seems to be something with spritecandy.

I could not play, so I cant really comment anything... the gfx looks good.

Works fine here. Great Game. I got stuck on the Boss level, how do you defeat it?

Grisu(Posted 2006) [#9]
I can run the game. Ball movement is ok for me.

Things that bug me:
- the reflection of walls on the ground level really is too much for my taste. It distracts a lot.
+ add a "1280x" mode please
- main menu doesn't react instantly on mouseclicks, but it should imho.
- could not exit the game while I was playing via esc-key.

I'm getting the HUD_SetImageClip error too, but given that at 640x480 the menu runs like a pig on my machine I guess playing it is out of the question.

Funny how I can still play games like Commanche 4, yet every Blitz game utilising sprite candy seems to kill my PC every time, just on menus.

Those screenies look freakishly cool! :)

I had that error after the menu. Reinstalled (from the same zip file) and for some reason it worked.

Looks nice but I really hate the control system.

Thanks for the responses. Weird I've never had the HUD_Clip issue, but I will look into this. Sprite Candy is great but it seems to cause a few issues.

Will look at the your issues Grisu, but not much I can do about hating the control system Nomen :) Though I will add a key and joystick control.

Should have a full demo next week with everything working hopefully. Ta for your responses

Rob: I actually thought the control scheme for this game would have been better if it was like those old wooden maze toys-

Push up/down/left/right to rotate the play area and the ball starts to roll that way. ireally couldn't get to grips with how it is now.

Saying that, I DID still find it pretty damn sweet :)
