| ||
Its not so dank but in the future it will... When Candy will fall on a spore mushroom she will say atchoom cause of the flying spores... I prepared some screenshots for you... just to see what i did in 2 months... a complete game full of challenge. I think that most people will like it... A demo will be drawn in the next few days... so stay tuned ! I dont want flood in my subject... Please write constructive critisism... or so... it will be locked again :( |
| ||
Please write constructive critisism... But will you listen to it? |
| ||
The amount of effort you are putting in is great, just needs work on the mechanics and camera and more polish. ps keep out you trolls, stop ruining his threads! |
| ||
thanks (tu) sinu some more idea may be crucial... I need good idea and I think if they are good enought Candy World will be open source... Then everybody will be able to build levels and make Candy games... Theres no copyright yet. I have some success with the game and its not launched yet... I'm thinking about making a 2D game callen Candy World 2D episode... Where Candy will discover the life and all its wonder... All the game will be 2D with parallax and fantastic music made by a friend of mine... I follow all critisism yet but i dont say it... Continue to bring Candy back to live in my heart... |
| ||
pssst Mr. moderator...? hello!, another thread for you to lock |
| ||
well all , don't be so rude with him, i'm not a fan, i don't like the game design. i'll probly never play this game nor download any demo of it. runing around with a dog isn't really my cup of tea. but it's not necessary to see alway the same borings comments about it and finally lock all his threads because of the flames wars. we all know xylvan game, we all know what we think of his games. like or dislike. so don't post instead of bashing him thanks :) |
| ||
I consider spamming a forum as being more rude. |
| ||
@ ford escort ..everything whats wrong with his threads are fact that they become a global joke on this forum, not because people hate him but because he did flaming over every single person who use to try to point him in right direction..simple as that..as for me...its just kind a weird joy to read again and again all this threads, pretty much same..thats all.. |
| ||
I will comunicate news on my Candy World Worklog... http://www.blitzbasic.com/logs/userlog.php?user=7462&log=1543 |
| ||
I've downloaded this in it's various forms a few times - simply to see if you've taken on-board the constructive critisism and improved the gameplay as a result. The answer is 'No' once again. To be frank there is no challenge in this game. The only reward for continued play is more of the same. Kids will probably like it but I cannot play for more than 5 mins without being bored out of my tiny mind. Stevie |

There are three types of bad. To use a movie analogy, these are: "So bad it's good" - this would be a cinema release starring Chuck Norris, Steven Segal or Jean-Claude Van Damme. "So bad it's bad" - this would be a straight-to-video sequel that stars Chuck Norris, Steven Segal or Jean-Claude Van Damme. "So bad it's forgetable" - this would be a straight-to-video movie "starring" some guy who kind of reminds you of Chuck Norris, Steven Segal, or Jean-Claude Van Damme, or who has a similar sounding name. You know, the movie in which the guy, um, fights people and... does stuff with stuff. Candy World Tome 2 would fall into this third category if it wasn't for the fact that Xylvan insists on constantly creating new threads to remind us of its existence. |
| ||
Once again Xylvan you continue to impress me. Pay no heed to the ones that think they know what a game should look and feel like. When all they really know is how to design a formula driven game. You are one of the last true remaining pioneers. Game design is a living art form not see how well you can replicate van Gogh then color by number. When people experience something that isn't formula driven it startles them and are quick to lash out. It just says they lack the creative experience to recognize something different and want you to conform to their paradigm. Anyway awesome stuff man. |
| ||
Absolute comedy, JustLuke. Then again, the mere mention of Chuck Norris or Steven Segal gives me the urge to laugh. |
| ||
I bet you wouldn't laugh in their faces. Well, you might do so once. And then you'd be a lumpy shade of dead. |
| ||
Isn't Chuck Norris, like 90? |
| ||
Yeah, but he ages like an old oak tree - he just gets tougher and more gnarly. |
| ||
Where can I download this new version? |
| ||
I think that you can only download a demo of the original Candy World. Check Xylvan's signature. I don't imagine that this "new" game will be any different to the last one. |
| ||
I wanted to Puki some of the new models |
| ||
Yeah, but he ages like an old oak tree - he just gets tougher and more gnarly. ...and is equally wooden. |
| ||
I must although tis not my cup of tea, I have to admire your balls. just carry on making stuff and hopefully at some point you realise yourself where you are going wrong. At least you have actually made a game in 3d, there are not that many who have actually got around to doing that. |
| ||
At least you have actually made a game in 3d Which 3D Game is that? |
| ||
Ogre1138: Once again Xylvan you continue to impress me. This sort of false praise is harmful. It only reinforces Xylvan's delusions. Our responses don't demonstrate that we "lack the creative experience to recognize something different and want Xylvan to conform to our paradigm" at all. What they actually demonstrate is a lack of patience for his hostile reaction to constructive criticism, his blatant lies and boasts, and his forum spamming. If you check Xylvan's prior threads then you'll notice that most of us have at some point (and often repeatedly) tried to give Xylvan genuine advice, only to have received ludicrous insults and boastful lies in return. I admit to being a tough critic, but if I see something that genuinly appears deserving of praise then I give it. If something seems flawed or in need of refinement then I say so too. What I don't do is try to massage people's ego's by handing out false praise that only hinders their development. Saying that clearly sub-standard work is awesome and a work of genius doesn't help Xylvan at all. |

You know, the movie in which the guy, um, fights people and... does stuff with stuff. Lol .. I'm particularly fond of Seagal ( > 2001 ) where he's so fat he always wears a polo-neck and huge leather coat ( even in bed ) and can clearly hardly move let alone round-house someone. Can't agree more with your analogy ... The way in which you handle critisism has a bearing on far more in life than writting a computer game. Stevie |
| ||
I wish bullying some kid who just made a game he's proud of made me feel like a big man. |
| ||
My thoughts exactly Gabriel. If he doesn't want to take advice, just don't post any more. the reason you guys keep on posting is that you want to make the guy feel bad and have a bit if a laugh at his expense. |
| ||
Xylvan, you're doing great, keep up the good work. Also, I encourage you to refine your modeling skills, and character animation. Your game ideas are fine by me. Maybe you don't have that in your game, it would be to have text bubbles helping the player understand the missions, maybe have a compass, stuff like that. Because I think some people won't understand how to accomplish the missions or where to go. |
| ||
Xylvan I really like your models, PLEASE consider licensing them in a pack. I would gladly buy them. |
| ||
I cant now cause they are made in a version of 3Dstudio max that dont allow commercial usage... sorry |
| ||
I cant now cause they are made in a version of 3Dstudio max that dont allow commercial usage... sorry Which version's that, then?If its true that the version you're using "dont allow commercial usage" then you shouldn't be selling games that contain them either. |
| ||
I cant now cause they are made in a version of 3Dstudio max that dont allow commercial usage... sorry Um... Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but using those models in a game that you are trying to sell *is* commercial usage? |
| ||
That would be GMax I assume? |
| ||
Xylvan: i think the most does mean a export variant instead the original max model files |
| ||
I know but my game dont sell... just a few 3 to 4... but I cant receive money from the agency cause I must sell more than 5... |
| ||
Carefull Zlvan. As long as someone is getting money from it, that makes it illegal. They might just come after you... Anything I said bad about your posts I take back. If what you are doing makes you happy, more power to you. After all that's what really matter. I know that if you ever have to make a living out of it to feed yourself and yours, you'll come around. In the mean time program your heart away. There might be people out there that like it and You might just be advertising to the wrong croud. ;-) We are a harsh real life bunch and some of us are really outspoken for good or for bad. But that is what makes life, well, interesting. Some programmers have developed skills that make them successfull, others are just here to waste time wishing an ispiration can come to develop a successfull game, and yet other are here to try to make a game with the limited time on hand(I think I belong to this one). In any case, we all love programming and that is why we are here. And I am not one to take that from anybody. good luck with your projects Zlvan. |
| ||
While I'm not crazy about your type of game, I admire the fact that you have gotten out there and done something. Thats more than I can say. I also gotta add though that that it is in your best interest to consider the helpful things people have to offer, incorporating more variety for one. Think about your audience: Its a pretty good guess that the blitz community is composed mainly of males of about 14+ years of age. I dont know about you but the only reason id buy a game like yours was if I had kids |
| ||
If your really trying to sell something, make a first person shooter. We have no Doubt that you can code and model, now all you gotta do is work on that subject matter! I'm not tryin to slam you or your dog, but when i say first person shooter, i mean w/out a dog. Hang in there. We all have lots of problems we are just better @ hiding them. ;) I have tried my best to give some hopefully helpful advice w/out making ne enemies. |
| ||
I wish bullying some kid who just made a game he's proud of made me feel like a big man. I just wanted to correct this: Xylvan is not a kid. He is very far from being a kid. Now, continue pointing out how terrible Xylvan's games are. |
| ||
I bet you wouldn't laugh in their faces. Well, you might do so once. And then you'd be a lumpy shade of dead. Yeah he'd whip my ass real good, but I could always make myself feel like a big man again by bullying some kid who just made a game.Haha Stevie does he seriously wear a polo in bed!? He's not (quite) so tough in real life http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/08/14/entertainment/main568297.shtml http://www.crimelibrary.com/criminal_mind/scams/steven_seagal/index.html |
