Vid of an old project I decided to work on again. Single player.

http://www.headpile.com/stuff/p1vid1.wmv (28mb)

Still need to add some better water but hey, one person can only do so much :).

Yahfree(Posted 2008) [#2]
Looks good, esp. for a single person project.

Grey Alien(Posted 2008) [#3]
This looks great, congrats for making this! Hope you can get it finished.

Oh and nice buns by way.

Ross C(Posted 2008) [#4]
Hehe, very nice! Is that model from 3dbud? I bought a bunch of them :o) Could you possibly do me a favour if it is the hero warrior model? Could you give me the animation settings for the frames. I couldn't find them anywhere...

Looks great though :o)

playeridle = ExtractAnimSeq ( playermesh,650,800 )
playerwalk = ExtractAnimSeq ( playermesh,1,37 )
playerrun = ExtractAnimSeq ( playermesh,38,57 )
playerjump = ExtractAnimSeq ( playermesh,952,1011 )
playerswim = ExtractAnimSeq ( playermesh,1422,1523 )

That's all I've bothered with so far. I loaded her up in UU3D to get those.

Ross C(Posted 2008) [#6]
Ah, good thinking :o) Thanks for those!

Btw, have you looked through the entire animation sequence? She does a crazy crazy dance near the end... scary stuff!

stayne(Posted 2008) [#7]
Hehe yep. She's one snazzy model. I plan to grab the scorpion, tiger and maybe another mob soon. I also want the skeletons from http://www.3drt.com.

andy_mc(Posted 2008) [#8]
That looks excellent. I've been planning a simple RPG myself but the workload just overwhelms me.

stayne(Posted 2008) [#9]
Here's a few updated shots for those that don't feel like downloading a 28mb video. Don't you just love alt-tabbing out of B3D? Debugging text decided to take a hike in the last 2 images.

Ross C(Posted 2008) [#10]
You know whats funny? You've done the EXACT same thing as me. I removed the leg guard things and made her a blonde.

Also, 3Dbud were doing a good deal, that you could download all the models in their collection for like £50. I jumped at it :o)

Check your email for info.

Beautiful looking game.

stayne(Posted 2008) [#11]
Thanks so much Ross. Too bad they are in Max9 format. I'm stuck doing ghetto edits in UU3D.

Ross C(Posted 2008) [#12]
Yeah, sorry about that. They WERE advertised as .b3d's... hmmm. I assume UU will convert them ok?

stayne(Posted 2008) [#13]
The tiger yes. The scorpion is .x and .dbo. UU3D won't open this version of .dbo, but it will open the .x file. Problem is UU3D sees something like 88,000 frames of animation. I'll keep at it :).

Xzider(Posted 2008) [#14]
Looks very nice, maybe a mmorpg one day;)

stayne(Posted 2008) [#15]
Not a chance. I have grown to hate that acronym. I am however going to implement the ability to hire "henchmen" to aid the player. Healers, fighters, etc.

puki(Posted 2008) [#16]
This looks exciting.

I see, well looks like a good RPG, esp for blitz3d. Keep it up, show a demo soon! :)

kragoth74(Posted 2008) [#18]
Nice ass.

stayne(Posted 2008) [#19]
Anyone up for helping me out with a fancy GUI? I know it's a bit early for that but I'm eager to see how it will look :). If so, email me and I'll toss you a concept.

Blitz3dCoder(Posted 2008) [#20]
This looks really nice!

stayne(Posted 2008) [#21]
I double dare someone to join up with me on this. I need help.

Tachyon(Posted 2008) [#22]
Stayne: I understand your pain.

I think RPGs are second only to Flight Simulators in terms of design complexity. Just getting a pretty scene set up that you can walk around in is like 10% of the project. For Eschalon, I had a nice-looking map that I could walk around in after 4 months of work and I was excited at how far I'd come in just a few months...then the rest of the game took over 2 more years to finish, and that was still after cutting many corners. :P A good RPG system is ridiculously tedious to design, implement and test.

stayne(Posted 2008) [#23]
Thanks buddy! I can't imagine myself enjoying working on something ridiculously tedious. If it becomes that way I'll stick it on the back burner for a while.

plash(Posted 2008) [#24]
If only it was in blitzmax, frygui is pretty awesome.
