I wanted to let Monkey devs know that I just released my game, Fun-Putt Mini Golf Remix, on iPhone / iPod Touch. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fun-putt-mini-golf-remix/id595143472?ls=1&mt=8 Also, here are some promo codes so some of you can give it a try: W3WE4LTMNPRE 7M3XAH9NLPPT WLYMMA37439T 44TXF97HYX7K I created the game originally in Java for Android, but have fully ported it to Monkey, updating graphics, added obstacles, updated scoring and controls, and a number of other things, and I'm SUPER EXCITED that it's out for iPhone and iPod Touch like I always hoped it would be. Note: Not on iPad yet. Couldn't get the screen rotation problem fixed with Game Center, will re-look at that soon. It's coming to Windows Phone, Kindle, Google Play soon. Probably Flash as well. Let me know if you use a code so I can remove it from the list. EDIT #1: There are NO IN-APP-PURCHASES, you get ALL 18 courses when you purchase/download this game. EDIT #2: Some notes about game development: ========================================== Usually people ask what Frameworks are used, etc. I made the whole thing in Ted. Mojo, monkey, I'm not using any special modules except for my "fake" file system module for SaveState and a modified openURL function. I can't really think of anything else. For a level editor I have a home-made one for this game made in Javascript and PHP. Oh, for the courses I use Read/Write pixels so that I'm not drawing a couple hundred tiles each time, I generate the course from tiles, save the pixels and re-draw the new image each time. It was right after the release of these functions that I started porting this game - was just waiting, and they work amazingly well. The only thing I hope for is the ability to turn on and off mojo image filtering in the future because on some Targets, Android, I get blurry artifacts around the edges of the tiles. I would like to turn OFF mojo image filtering while creating the course image, and then turn it back on to render the game in-play (if that makes any sense). |

Very nice. I've been working on a similar style game to this, for Android. Doing your own elastic physics can be difficult with multiple bodies! Anyway, happy selling ! |

Yes, I went through a number of methods for collision detection. The moving obstacles were certainly the most difficult to perfect. I had done most of the work with the original version a couple years ago, but when porting, I found many better ways to do things, especially with 45 degree walls. |

I like this. Good fun, I tried to write a review but apparently you cant if you use a promo code??? Any chance to add in some form of multiplayer matchup service into it? I remember being hooked to this online version ages ago. Can't remember the link, unfortunately, but I used to play it for hours! My only criticism is it seemed like the drag and pull was in reverse. Eg you should pull away from the ball and it fires in opposite direction. Currently it just fires in the direction you pull which sometimes makes it hard to line up shots. |

Nice game and well done :-) It reminds me that I played such kind of games in the past for plenty of time. |

@Skn3 Hmm, I never had an online version. I know there have been many 2D putt putt games out there, but it wasn't mine. I have had a Fun-Putt Mini Golf game on Android for years, this is the "reboot" or "remix" so to speak :) Thanks for trying to review, I'm not sure how that all works with the promo codes either. You can actually pause the game and switch to the Reverse controls so you can pull away from the ball to shoot. @Wylaryzel Agreed, I remember playing an old EGA putt putt game on a friend's computer when I was about 12. Square ball and all :) I think it's always stuck with me a bit, plus this was a fun challenge with all the obstacles, angles, etc. |
